Company Overview
Our client is a privately held software company specializing in estimating solutions built exclusively for the lumber and building materials (LBM) industry. For more than 30 years, they have helped dealers streamline estimating, improve accuracy, and increase efficiency through innovative software that integrates directly with industry ERP systems. As the company continues to expand throughout the U.S., they are seeking a motivated Sales Representative to develop and grow their Northeast territory.
Position Overview
This is a true territory development role focused on growing market share throughout the Northeast, including Pennsylvania, Maryland, and states north of Maryland. The Sales Representative will be responsible for building new customer relationships, managing inbound opportunities, and generating at least 50% of their own pipeline while serving lumber dealers throughout the region.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter who enjoys prospecting, consultative selling, and building long-term customer relationships while operating independently within a defined territory.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and grow a new Northeast sales territory through proactive business development.
- Prospect and generate at least 50% of new opportunities through outbound sales efforts.
- Manage inbound leads and convert opportunities into long-term customers.
- Demonstrate estimating software solutions to lumber dealers and building material suppliers.
- Build relationships with owners, estimators, sales managers, and leadership teams.
- Conduct virtual product demonstrations with occasional in-person customer visits for larger accounts.
- Attend industry trade shows and networking events throughout the year.
- Maintain an active sales pipeline and consistently achieve territory growth objectives.
- Partner closely with internal leadership to execute strategic sales initiatives.
Ideal Background
- Outside sales or territory management experience within building materials, construction, software, or a related industry.
- Experience calling on lumber dealers, building material distributors, or construction professionals is highly preferred.
- Strong hunter mentality with the ability to generate new business while managing existing opportunities.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
- Self-motivated, organized, and comfortable managing a remote territory.
- Experience with CRM systems and virtual sales presentations.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary up to $100,000
- On-target earnings of $130,000–$140,000
- Quarterly commission program
