Company Overview

Our client is a manufacturing company looking to establish clear financial functions and scale their operations.

The Opportunity & Role

Our client is seeking a hands-on, results-oriented Controller to take full ownership of their financial processes, reporting metrics, and costing accuracy. This role provides high visibility directly to ownership and builds a bridge to a potential CFO-level position as the business grows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all day-to-day accounting functions, including General Ledger, AP, AR, payroll, month-end close, financial statements, and tax compliance.
  • Establish cost accounting procedures, tracking raw materials/logs to finished goods and incorporating labor costs across multiple business lines.
  • Implement metrics and reliable reporting to enable data-driven, math-based decision-making across all three business units.
  • Provide higher-level financial strategy and insights while evaluating software upgrades to robust ERP systems (e.g., Epicor, DMSI) in 1–2 years.
  • Delegate or reassign entry-level daily tasks to office support based on individual strengths.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Proven accounting background within manufacturing or building products.
  • Strong grasp of costing, inventory tracking, financial analytics, and internal controls.
  • Proficient with QuickBooks, with the adaptability to transition to more advanced ERP systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred (or an Associate’s degree accompanied by significant, relevant experience).
  • Analytical self-starter comfortable building processes from the ground up, with the communication skills to report effectively to senior leadership.

Compensation & Perks

  • Base Salary: $90,000 – $125,000
  • Schedule & Flexibility: Excellent work-life balance with flexible start/end times (typically M-F, 7 AM – 4 PM or 6 AM – 3 PM) to accommodate personal commitments.
  • Perks & Impact: High degree of autonomy to shape the company’s financial future, with strong career growth potential into a CFO role.
