Summary:
The Preconstruction Coordinator is a critical role responsible for enhancing project efficiency and accuracy through advanced 3D modeling (BIM) and meticulous coordination of structural and mechanical systems. This position plays a central role in accelerating project schedules, eliminating rework, and ensuring precise framing information for multifamily and commercial projects. The ideal candidate will possess strong CAD/Revit skills, an analytical mindset, and a commitment to detail, thriving in a fast-paced, collaborative office environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with truss manufacturers, general contractors, and mechanical trades to design and lay out trusses, ensuring compatibility with all project requirements.
  • Generate accurate 3D models of building structures using AutoCAD and Revit, integrating various system designs.
  • Perform clash detection to identify and resolve conflicts between structural components and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems.
  • Gather and integrate critical framing information, including precise measurements for window/door openings, tub/shower openings, and firewall assemblies.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive project information to field teams in handoff meetings, approximately two weeks prior to job commencement.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of improved pre-construction modeling processes and workflows.
  • Collaborate closely with field Project Managers to alleviate their burden by centralizing critical framing information.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD) and Revit, with demonstrated 3D modeling and BIM capabilities.
  • Strong analytical and task-oriented personality traits; ability to focus on detail and systematic problem-solving.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills for interacting with internal teams and external trades.
  • Ability to quickly learn and apply wood framing techniques, terminology, and construction assemblies.
  • Comfortable with technology and various construction management applications (e.g., Autodesk Build/Forma).
  • Prior experience in an architect’s office or a larger construction company performing similar modeling/coordination tasks is preferred.
  • Engineering technology graduates with strong CAD skills are highly encouraged to apply.
  • Must be able to work full-time onsite at the Akron, Ohio office.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Base Salary: $65,000 – $85,000
