Role Summary:
A premier Midwest building materials distributor is seeking a Project Manager based in the Cincinnati-Columbus, Ohio corridor. This role will oversee multiple active projects, and field teams to drive scalability, financial performance, and consistent delivery across the growing Construction Services division. The Project Manager provides oversight for framing, exterior envelope, and multifamily/large-scale residential projects. You will have full project oversight, modernize operational structures, and manage key builder relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage 1-3 multifamily construction projects simultaneously, depending on size (20,000 to 400,000+ sq ft).
- Coordinate with general contractors, mechanical trades, and subcontractors.
- Ensure proper framing, window/door/tub installations, and adherence to firewall assemblies.
- Utilize technology (iPads, internal apps, Autodesk Build/Forma) for reporting, documentation, and project management.
- Handle difficult customer interactions with “thick skin,” grit, and maturity, filtering emotions to focus on substance.
- Achieve and maintain required safety certifications (OSHA 30, fall protection, silica, operator license, first aid, CPR).
- Understand and apply company-specific vocabulary for framing, window installation, and door knowledge.
- Drive project schedules (schedule building experience is a plus).
Required Experience & Skills
- 2-3 years of multifamily construction project management experience.
- Minimum Associate’s degree in Construction Management or building trades background.
- Tech-friendly with comfort using iPads and various applications.
- Ability to handle challenging customer interactions and maintain professionalism.
- Strong product knowledge in framing lumber, structural components, doors, windows, fiber cement siding, interior trim, and commercial doors/frames/hardware.
- Based in or willing to relocate to the Dayton area (within an hour of Cincinnati).
- Willingness to travel extensively to job sites in Cincinnati, Dayton, and potentially Columbus markets.
