Position Overview

Our client, a respected building materials supplier, is seeking a Paint Department Manager to oversee the daily operations, sales growth, customer service, inventory, and team leadership of a busy paint department. This individual will play a key role in driving department performance, managing staff, supporting contractors and homeowners, and maintaining a strong customer-focused environment. The ideal candidate will bring paint industry experience, leadership capabilities, and hands-on knowledge of paint products, tinting, and color matching.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all paint department operations including sales, inventory, merchandising, purchasing, receiving, and customer service
  • Drive sales growth while maintaining margins and controlling expenses
  • Lead, train, coach, and develop department staff
  • Build strong relationships with contractors, builders, homeowners, and vendors
  • Ensure proper inventory levels, special order accuracy, and efficient product flow
  • Manage department merchandising, shelf layout, and promotional initiatives
  • Resolve customer issues professionally and maintain a safe, organized work environment
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and vendor programs to support business growth

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of paint sales and/or management experience
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Experience with paint tinting, color matching, and inventory management
  • Strong business acumen and customer service mindset
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
